GSA offers programs for mentors to spread their knowledge to the rising community of geoscientists. We invite graduate students, early career professionals, professionals, and retirees to mentor students.

All mentors are asked to read and abide by GSA’s Events Code of Conduct.

Résumé mentors are matched with a student on-site to review the student’s résumé, providing advice and guidance on building a winning resume. Consultations take place for 30 minutes in the GeoCareers Center in a one-on-one format. Résumé mentors are asked to volunteer for a block of time (one-hour minimum). At least 28 mentors are needed.

Drop-in mentors are matched with a student on-site who wishes to ask questions and seek advice from a mentor. Consultations take place for 30 minutes in the GeoCareers Center in a one-on-one format. Drop-in mentors are asked to volunteer for a block of time (one-hour minimum). At least 28 mentors are needed.

As a GeoCareers Day mentor you will be stationed at a table during the GeoCareers Day event to speak with students focusing on careers in industry and government sectors. As a table mentor you will help answer student questions in a small group format. Approximately 30 mentors are needed.

The Women in Geology Program has speakers for the first 30 minutes followed by an informal gathering of students, early career professionals, and mentors. As a mentor you will answer questions, offer advice about career plans, and comment on job opportunities within your professional field for approximately one hour. At least 30 mentors are needed.

The Networking Reception is an informal gathering of students, early career professionals, and mentors in the GeoCareers Corner. As a mentor you will answer questions, offer advice about career plans, and comment on job opportunities within your professional field. Approximately 40 mentors are needed.
